About DLC
Diamond Learning Center is a community in Clovis, California, built around a simple idea: learning does not stop, and everyone deserves the chance to keep growing.
Our mission and vision
We support people with developmental disabilities in lifelong learning, in growing more independent, and in living a full and satisfying life.
We picture a community where people of all abilities learn together, contribute, and are genuinely known by the people around them.
What L.I.F.E. stands for
The four ideas our work is built on.
- Learning
- Chances to learn something new, at any age.
- Independence
- Skills and confidence for everyday life.
- Friendship
- Real relationships and a place to belong.
- Empowerment
- Choice, voice, and the dignity of deciding.
How DLC began
DLC was founded by Jami Hamel De La Cerda, who saw how few options existed for adults with developmental disabilities once school came to an end.
What started as a response to that gap became a place built around what people actually want to do — work, make music, cook, play sport, and spend time with others.
